3 fruit extracts to feed your skin

Fruits have found their way from our plates into our skincare as hero ingredients – and for good reason. Fruits not only feed your body with essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants when eaten, but when transformed into fruit extracts and used in skincare products, they also feed your skin.

Powdered fruit extracts are a really effective way to add the natural benefits of fruit to skincare, known to have powerful rejuvenating properties. They are obtained from fruit juices and purees using a spray drying technology. By employing this technology, the resulting product is of consistent high quality and potency, retaining all of the fruits' nutrient rich qualities. Many powdered fruit extracts are concentrated, some up to 10 times of the original extract, so they only need to be added in small amounts to skincare to get amazing results.

In this insight, we look at three of our favourite powdered fruit extracts that we carefully selected for inclusion in our Australian Pink Clay Bum Mask to deliver bright, nourished, healthy and glowing skin.

Dragon fruit

Not only a beautiful fruit but incredibly powerful, Dragon Fruit is extremely rich in Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant effective at fighting free radicals to reveal bright, glowing skin. Dragon Fruit is also rich in Vitamin B3, which can improve the skin's surface and help protect against moisture loss.

Kakadu Plum

We have said it before, and will say it again, Kakadu Plum is the Elle Macpherson of native Australian ingredients. It is SUPER! Famed for being a rich source of Vitamin C (identified as the world's richest source of Vitamin C, actually), it acts against free radicals, environmental pollutants while also protecting your skin from the harmful effects done by them. This little beauty also brightens the skin, evens out skin tone and increases collagen production, leaving your skin glowing. Many products contain Vitamin C and Kakadu Plum, but this star ingredient is notoriously unstable, oxidising upon exposure to air, light and heat. However, when used in a more stable powdered form, it can deliver all of its glowing skin benefits.

Pomegranate

A natural skin brightener, Pomegranate is packed full of Vitamin C and antioxidants that have anti-microbial, soothing, anti-inflammatory and environmental protection benefits for the skin. Pomegranate also helps reduce the signs of ageing and lighten dark spots, and promotes skin repair and tightening and cellular regeneration.

Nature has so much to give and the humble fruit we eat may not be so humble after all, but pack a powerful skincare punch.
